When requesting a title check, you will need to get an Affidavit of Police Officer form. You can do this by either going to the license branch or going to the website below. The form you need is Affidavit for Transfer of Certificate of Title for a Vehicle/Watercraft. You might want to call your local BMV to make sure that this is all that they will need for processing.

Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles

There is a new county ordinance that established a $5.00 fee for title checks. This went into effect April 7, 2008. Our policy is as follows:

• Title checks will only be done from 6am-6pm
• There will be a $5.00 fee for all title checks. (If you have two vehicles that need checked, there will be a $10.00 fee etc.)
• You must have the correct amount of money. Officers will not be able to make change.
• NO PERSONAL CHECKS will be accepted.
• If you are applying for a VIN from the state, the $5.00 charge will occur when the officer comes back out to verify the numbers.
